Where are we?
We had driven down one of those rough red clay roads and hit a point where we had to turn around. We loved this area and how beautiful it was. There was small hill nearby and I really wanted to climb it, praying over the people and town we live in. We also thought it might be an area that would be nice to have a small piece of ground to farm (you know, farming is in our blood!).
As we turned around a young man approached us and asked if he could help us. We said no, that we were just looking and apologized if we were trespassing. He said it was ok and that if we wanted see the area? We said sure!
After parking the car, we approached the hill I had been drooling over. I was like, “Wow, looks like we are walking into a rock quarry!” There were all sorts of rocks in various sizes. As we looked up on the hill, we could see smoke and people scurrying about. People were ascending and descending the hill carrying large rocks on their heads and hands, some with babies on their backs. They would leave their load at the bottom of the hill, where others would begin breaking the stones with make-shift hammers. We were awestruck as we realized this is the local rock crusher (“Stone Breakers” as we call them).
We see you.
After seeing this, our greatest desire was to develop a relationship with these hard-working people. To let them know we see them, God see’s them! They are not forgotten. From that point we planned with a few of the local leaders at the quarry. We wanted a time in the future where we could bring prayer warriors and worshippers to ascend the hill…
…to be continued!
