This is the base scripture, the foundation for the whole ministry of Journey International:
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
Matthew 22:37-39
We have always said if we can keep these two great commandments, then everything else will work out. We have been involved in several different ministries and mission’s trips. No one really talks about all of the accomplishments, the disappointments, the struggles or the victories. What they wanted to talk about is the compassion and love. The love for God and the love for people. People want to know they are loved; they will sacrifice anything to get it.
But there is a big difference between talking about love and demonstrating love. These two greatest commandments are not always the easiest to keep. That is why it needs to start with loving God. He is the source, the supplier. His love tank never runs dry. He demonstrated His love for you by sending His one and only son to take your place, to pay the price for your sin, to redeem you and restore you, to give you hope and a future. When He looks upon you the thing that is on His heart for you is One Love.
